Genesis Africa Ltd. is proud to announce the signing of a contract with Open Construction & Related Services Ltd. for the design, construction, and commissioning of a dam-based irrigation system in Muyange Village, Ngeruka Cell, Bugesera District, Rwanda. This groundbreaking project marks a major step in our mission to enhance agricultural productivity and improve water resource management for local farming communities.
The contract, signed on 31st March 2025, sets the stage for a three-month construction period during which Open Construction will develop an efficient, solar-powered irrigation system that will support sustainable agriculture in the region. The project will provide reliable water access to farmers, reduce dependency on rainfall, and boost food security by enabling year-round cultivation.

A Commitment to Sustainable Agriculture
Agriculture remains the backbone of Rwanda’s economy, with the majority of rural livelihoods depending on farming. However, water scarcity and erratic rainfall pose significant challenges for smallholder farmers. This irrigation system will help mitigate these issues by ensuring a consistent and sustainable water supply for agricultural activities, ultimately improving productivity and income levels.
“This project aligns with Genesis Africa’s vision of empowering African farmers through innovative and sustainable solutions. By investing in modern irrigation infrastructure, we are not just improving water access but also fostering economic growth and resilience in rural communities,” said Amb Williams NKURUNZIZA, Managing Director at Genesis Africa Ltd.
Key Features of the Irrigation System
✔ Dam Construction – A well-engineered water storage system to harness and distribute water efficiently.
✔ Solar-Powered Pumping – An environmentally friendly solution that reduces operational costs.
✔ Pipeline & Distribution Network – Ensuring equitable water access for farms across the designated area.
✔ Farmer Training & Technical Support – Enabling long-term project sustainability.
